Tempier sesto Festa migliore non poteva esserci per Gerhard Kerschbaumer, vincitore della Coppa del Mondo MTB. L’altoatesino ha conquistato la quinta vittoria nel challenge UCI nella settima e ultima prova, in Val di Sole, sabato 20 agosto. Davanti ai suoi tifosi, l'U23 della TX Active-Bianchi in sella alla Bianchi Methanol SL2 non ha deluso le aspettative. Alle sue spalle, si sono piazzati il polacco Marek Konwa, staccato di 9", e il tedesco Markus Schulte-Luenzum, a 19". Kerschbaumer è rimasto in un gruppo formato da un palmo di corridori fino all'inizio del quarto dei cinque giri in programma, poi è partito con una delle sue accelerazioni, facendo il vuoto. "Sono andato via al penultimo giro - racconta il talentuoso biker azzurro – seguito da un francese, poi in salita ho dato lo strappo decisivo. E' stato bellissimo vincere qui, c'era tanta gente, tanti amici. Ora il mio pensiero va già ai mondiali di Champéry, l'appuntamento più importante della stagione. Con lo svizzero Litscher sarà davvero un gran duello". Kerschbaumer chiude la Coppa del Mondo da trionfatore con 542 punti, oltre il doppio rispetto al francese Fabien Canal (quinto in Val di Sole) e al polacco Konwa. Ottima prestazione anche per Stephane Tempier nella gara Elite. Il francese della TX Active-Bianchi ha centrato il suo miglior piazzamento stagionale in Coppa del Mondo, sesto a 2'45" dal leader Jaroslav Kulhavy. Un risultato che non solo ha permesso a Tempier di conservare un posto nella Top-10, ma addirittura di salire al nono posto a quota 662 punti, quattro in più della coppia Vogel-Fumic. “Sapevo di stare bene, ho avuto sensazioni positive in settimana. Al primo giro sono transitato quindicesimo, poi ho ripreso i gruppetti davanti e sull’ultima salita ho anche lottato per il podio”, le parole di Tempier. Tony Longo si è invece piazzato 61°. Italian biker gained the fifth success in the seventh and last round in Val di Sole (Italy), a stone’s throw from home, on Saturday, August 20th. Before his supporters, Kerschbaumer haven’t fallen short of expectations on his Bianchi Methanol SL2: he won the U23 race with a 9 seconds margin over Polish Marek Konwa. German Markus Schulte-Luenzum finished third - 19 seconds behind. After the third of five total laps, Kerschbaumer was in the main group. Then, he made his irrepressible break. “I attacked in the fourth lap, followed by a French rider. Then, on the climb, I made the final break. To win here was really exciting, there were many people, many friends. Now I’m already thinking about Champéry’s World Championship, the seasonal main event. I guess I’ll have a great duel with Swiss Litscher”, Italian rider commented after the race. In the U23 Overall ranking, Kerschbaumer closed with 542 points, more than the double than French Fabien Canal (fifth in Italy) and Polish Marek Konwa. Thanks to this result, Tempier went up from 10th to 9th position in the Overall ranking. "I knew I could do a good race, I had nice sensation during last week. I was 15th after the first lap, then I recovered and I even fought for the podium on the last climb", Tempier noticed. His team-mate Tony Longo was 61st.
