Resta sulle spalle di Gerhard Kerschbaumer la maglia di campione d’Italia U23. L’atleta del team TX Active-Bianchi, in sella a Bianchi Methanol SL2, ha vinto in solitaria la gara tricolore disputata a Lugagnano Val d’Arda (Piacenza) domenica 22 luglio. Come nel 2011, Kerschbaumer ha preceduto Luca Braidot e Nicholas Pettinà.

Su un percorso di 4,7 km con un dislivello di 150 metri, il tre volte campione d’Italia si è confermato il migliore della categoria, prima resistendo agli attacchi dei suoi avversari (Pettinà, Daniele e Luca Braidot), poi isolandosi in vetta con un attacco all’ultimo giro e volando a vincere con in pugno una bandiera tricolore.

“E’ la mia vittoria più bella - ha commentato Kerschbaumer - arrivata al termine di un’appassionante battaglia sportiva con avversari di assoluto valore. Mi hanno reso la vita dura fino all’ultimo giro, quando sono riuscito a staccarli e tagliare il traguardo da solo. Una grande emozione”.

Nella gara élite, Tony Longo su Bianchi Methanol SL2 è stato frenato da una caduta al primo giro, poi è risalito fino in sesta posizione con una buona progressione.

Kerschbaumer kept U23 Italian champion’s jersey

Gerhard Kerschbaumer kept the U23 Italian champion’s jersey in Lugagnano Val d’Arda (Northern Italy), taking an outstanding solo win on Bianchi Methanol SL2 in the “tricolore” race on Sunday, July 22nd. As in 2011, Kerschbaumer preceded Luca Braidot and Nicholas Pettinà.

On a 4,7 km course with a difference in altitude of 150 meters, the three-time Italian champion confirmed as the best rider in his series, withstanding his rivals’ attacks (Pettinà, Daniele and Luca Braidot) and then taking the leadership of the race ang going to win, while holding a tricolore flag.

“It was my most beautiful win, after a thrilling sports battle with really brave rivals. They give me a rough ride until the last lap, when I outdistanced them, going to take a solo victory. It was a great emotion” Kerschbaumer commented.

In the élite race, Tony Longo on Bianchi Methanol SL2 was impeded by a crash during the first lap, then went up to the sixth position.
