Gerhard Kerschbaumer (TX Active-Bianchi) ha festeggiato con una vittoria in solitaria il settimo e ultimo round della Coppa del Mondo XCO in Val d'Isère (Francia), sabato 28 luglio. L'atleta italiano su Bianchi Methanol SL2 ha tagliato il traguardo con un vantaggio di 30 secondi sul francese Jordan Sarrou e 1’01” sul connazionale Daniele Braidot.

Grazie al successo in terra francese, Kerschbaumer è risalito dal quarto al secondo posto in classifica generale. Il vincitore della Coppa del Mondo 2011 ha chiuso l'edizione di quest'anno con 372 punti, appena 23 meno del vincitore Michiel Van der Heijden (Olanda).

"Sono partito bene, quindi sono caduto due volte su un percorso reso ostico dalla pioggia, ma questo è stato un problema comune a tutti. Nel secondo giro ero in testa con l'austriaco Gehbauer, poi sono rimasto da solo e ho mantenuto un buon passo, andando a vincere la corsa" ha commentato Kerschbaumer.

L'élite Stephane Tempier si è invece piazzato 9°. Il francese del team TX Active-Bianchi su Bianchi Methanol SL2 ha commesso un errore in partenza, scivolando al 45° posto, quindi ha recuperato molte posizioni attaccando con coraggio, giro dopo giro, ed è riuscito a entrare fra i migliori dieci di giornata e chiudere 15° in classifica generale.

"Peccato per la partenza negativa - le parole di Tempier - perché ho disputato davvero una buona gara e ne sono contento. Sono in buona forma e posso guardare con fiducia alle Olimpiadi di Londra".

Kerschbaumer took win, Tempier clinched Top-10 at World Cup XCO last round

TX Active-Bianchi's Gerhard Kerschbaumer celebrated with a solo win the World Cup XCO's seventh and ultimate round in Val d'Isère (France), on Saturday, July 28th. Italian rider on Bianchi Methanol SL2 kicked for the line with a 30-second advantage on French Jordan Sarrou and 1:01 on his countryman Daniele Braidot.

Thanks to the victory in France, Kerschbaumer climbed GC from fourth to second position. 2011 World Cup's winner closed the 2012 edition with 372 points, only 23 less adrift Michiel Van der Heijden (Netherlands).

"I started well, then I crashed twice in the early race with rain-lashed course making the race harder for the whole field. In the second lap I was leading the race with Austrian Gehbauer, then I kept my pace going to take a solo win", Kerschbaumer stated after his victory.

Gerhard Kerschbaumer’s team-mate, Elite Stephane Tempier placed ninth. TX Active-Bianchi's French rider on Bianchi Methanol SL2 overpaid a false start and went down to 45th place, but he never gave up recovering many positions lap by lap and bravely caught a top-10 placement afterwards. Tempier took 15th in the GC.

"After the bad start, I performed really well: I'm happy with it. I'm in a good shape and I can look at London Olympics with some confidence", Tempier commented.
